AMELAND

The Wadden Sea hiking tour to the island of Ameland starts at the Holwerd pier, where the cars are also parked. The first few kilometers on the intertidal flats are muddy, so we start at a leisurely pace.
In the past year and this year, the first kilometres have become a tougher mudflat hike, so the Ameland trip is strenuous. After a varied trip of approx. 3.5 to 4 hours through land reclamation works, mussel beds, and tidal creeks we arrive at the Oerderduin on the east side of the island. To the North Sea beach it is a stroll of 2 km.
Participants have the possibility to be seated in a trailer of a tractor that will bring you to the beach entrance of the village of Nes. You can walk from that beach entrance in approximately 10 minutes to the village centre and to take a bus from there to the Holwerd ferry. The possibility exists to take direct buses from the beach entrance to the village centre or to the ferry.
These transportation costs are to be covered by the participant.
