This tailor-made mudflat walking tour wanders through the mudflats at the Wadden-side of the island Schiermonnikoog, east of the ferry dam.
Here we walk along a large protected salt marsh area, the Eastern salt marsh. This is part of the Schiermonnikoog National Park, which is closed to visitors in the spring and early summer.
Departure is at the island side entry of the ferry dam and the tour wanders eastwards over the mudflats towards the ‘Sprutel’, a gully that flows into the main gully near the ferry terminal. After an hour, the tour can be extended with a crossing of the Sprutel and extent the trip with the mudflats at the other side of the Sprutel, including visiting the remains of a shipwreck. After crossing back over the Sprutel, the tour ends again at the island entry of the ferry dam. A beautiful trip for people who spend their holiday on the island of Schiermonnikoog and who want to experience the beautiful mudflats from the Schiermonnikoog side.
This tour is subject to the availability of sufficient guides from De Vrije Wadlopers.
